How Far We've Come

Wow, I sit here tonight at 1am, thinking about how "far" we've come as a country accepting Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals. Now many people accept them, but there are still some people that just don't want to accept the fact that there very well may be gays in the world. Now, I know that everyone is entited to their own beliefs, believe me I know that very well. But the thing about it is, the people that don't agree with it, can't you just leave the gays, lesbians, and bisexuals alone? We don't go around preaching to you about our lifestyles, we don't ask for trouble. Some people that don't agree with it, take the issue a little too far. Take Matthew Shepard for instance. He was killed because he was gay. Or take the story of a boy named Bobby. His mother didn't approve of him being gay, and said I will not have a gay son. He ended up taking his own life because of all the hate his mother and others put upon him. He had forgotten how precious his life was. And I for one will never forget how precious all of our lives are, no matter the sexual orientation. The sexual orientation doesn't make the person. It's just a small part, of a human being. A human being is made up of some much more than just sexual orientation. And also what matters, is what's in the human's heart. If someone has a good heart, why discrimiate on them just because of their sexual orientation. It doesn't make sense! What if you met someone that had a geniune great heart, and didn't know they were gay, wouldn't you still assoicate with them? Exactly. So please don't judge anyone on their sexual orientation or skin color or anything. We've started growing more tolerant of gays and lesbians... why can't we keep going?

Peace & Love,
~A
